3 Best Places to See in Boerne

by | Mar 1, 2023 | Neighborhood

One of the easiest things you can do this weekend is to make a plan to explore your own city. Boerne has plenty of fun and scenic areas that you can explore without spending a small fortune. From natural sites to historic tours, you can see the best that the city has to offer over the course of a long weekend off from work. Why not plan to explore a few of these prominent and popular areas on your next day off?

Cibolo Nature Center and Farm

At the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm, you can finally relax and unwind for a few minutes. Pack a picnic lunch, enjoy a little bird watching, or take a seat on the back porch. There are plenty of ways to relax the mind and body at this quaint little reserve.

If you prefer to be more active, you can explore miles of walking trails that connect the nature center with the rest of the city. You could spend days wandering through the wildlife. Even more unique, you can walk along their dinosaur tracks. These pathways are an exact replica of the tracks found at the Boerne Lake Spillway, made by the Acrocanthosaurus more than 100 million years ago.

Cascade Caverns

Go underground with a historic tour of the caves found in Boerne, Texas. This site has been open for almost a century, showing people another side of the city that they rarely glimpse. The tour itself lasts for one hour. However, you will want to call ahead as they do sometimes have to close due to flooding.

Boerne City Park

Looking for a laidback way to pass a few hours this weekend? Boerne City Park provides plenty of free entertainment for those who want to get out of the house. Play a few games of tennis, go for a swim, or strike up a soccer game. It also links up with many nature trails that loop through the city and along the Cibolo Trail.

City Lake Park is another offshoot of the Parks and Recreation Department in Boerne. From here, you can spend a few hours fishing, play a game of volleyball, let the kids play on the playground, and grill up hamburgers for lunch. If you have a boat, this dock is an excellent place to start off your morning.

Both facilities are excellent ways to spend time in the great outdoors without spending a dime. Keep in mind that they also have other facilities including a skate park.

Beautiful Sites

If you truly want to experience Boerne like a local, then you have to visit a few of these beautiful locations this weekend. However, it may simply be too hot to wander around the town for hours on end. If the hot and muggy weather is keeping you indoors, we can help keep you comfortable all day long.
